If you’ve ever felt lost or like you don’t know what you’re doing.
I have a hunch as to why that might be.
First off, it’s normal.
Second, it comes down to not knowing what you want from life. Or not making any progress on what you want.
Simon Sinek describes it as knowing your “why.”
He says that many people know what they do or even how they do it.
But almost no one knows why.
Knowing why you do what you do, and essentially where you’re going, provides clarity.
It gives you a true north star to keep your eyes on.
This is what helps high performers keep going..
(even when times are tough)
Everyone that has accomplished a lot with their life has done so because they’ve had a north star to lead them through it.
Without a why, when times get tough, we’ll fail.
If we have a why, we have a much higher chance of succeeding during hard times.
If we have a why that’s big enough, we won’t fail.
No one needs a why to do things that are easy.
But when things are hard, that’s when we must have a why.
I think a lot of people are unhappy because they don’t have a why.
They may know what they do or how to do it.
But that lack of clarity can drive a person insane.
So how the heck can we figure out what our why is?
Well, if you don’t know what it is right off the bat, it’s likely going to take time.
It took me about 7 years to figure out my why.
Mine is to inspire and to educate.
But it’s for a very specific reason.
I believe that you can change the world.
But only if you become the best version of yourself.
So it’s my goal to contribute to that.
Because when you become the best version of yourself and change the world, then I indirectly change the world alongside with you.
That’s what keeps me going.
Yours is probably something different. And I can’t tell you what it is. I wish I could.
The only thing I can suggest is that you get a copy of “Start With Why” by Simon Sinek.
Read it cover to cover.
Then put it down, and pick up again in about 6 months.
Do this off-and-on for the next year or two until you discover your true “why.”
P.S. We still need to keep moving even if we don’t know what our why is.
We need to keep learning new things.
We need to continue to swing the bat.
But, I think we need to put a large portion of our brain power on it.
Because without it we can’t go that far.
I read one book every day. I carefully analyze it to extract the most helpful information. Then I pass it along to you :)
