Whether you’re trying to grow your business or get the word out about your mission — Growing a following is great way to make a massive impact. I just got done reading One Million Followers by Brendan Kane. Can I share why I read this book? Because I wanted to learn how to grow my own personal following. I currently have 17 (amazing) people on my email list and later in this article I’ll tell you how I got to 17 — and how I plan to get to 1,000,000. Let’s begin 🤓

Embrace Challenges as Opportunities

To be fully transparent, I feel like quitting almost every week, sometimes several times a week. But because I’ve done the proper work to get my mindset in the right place, I don’t quit." (Pg. 23)

Embracing challenges as opportunities is about seeing each hurdle as a chance to grow. Start small and keep pushing. The path to success is paved with trials; we thrive by overcoming them. Think of each challenge not as a setback, but as a stepping stone. This shifts how we view our journey. We learn more from the hard times than the easy ones.

We’ll build resilience as we face challenges. Resilience turns potential failures into lessons. Facing and overcoming difficulties teaches us about our strengths and weaknesses. It prepares us better for future obstacles. So, when a challenge appears, let’s tackle it head-on.

Building a Following Takes Time

Building your following takes time, effort, and money, but think of those ROIs. Think about the validation and credibility that will be coming your way. (Pg. 107)

Brendan Kane tells us that building a following is a journey, not a sprint. It requires patience, persistence, and a bit of strategy. We start from zero and take one step at a time. Each follower is a step toward a larger community.

This process takes time. Quick growth might sound appealing, but sustainable growth ensures long-term success. Kane tells us that it's about building trust and recognition slowly but surely.

Each phase of growth offers lessons. We learn what attracts our audience and what keeps them coming back. This is crucial for adjusting strategies.

Consistency is our best tool. Regular updates, consistent quality, and steady communication are key. They show commitment and reliability. This approach builds a loyal following over time.

He also tells us to stay patient. Follower numbers might plateau at times. It's natural in any growth cycle. During these phases, we stay committed and stay strong.

Everyone starts small. Successful brands invested time in their growth. Let's do the same. Let's commit to the journey and embrace each stage of our growth.

Mindset for Success

The most accomplished people in the world make managing their mindsets a priority. (Pg. 24)

Success starts with the right mindset. We begin by believing in ourselves. Doubt is natural, but overcoming it is key. Each failure teaches us something important. From these lessons, we grow stronger and wiser.

Our mindset shapes our reality. What we believe, we can achieve. Keeping a positive outlook attracts success. It’s all about the attitude we bring each day. Why? Because that great attitude will spill over into your work. People will notice 🙂

Visualize success. Imagining our achievements makes them more attainable. This mental practice boosts our drive and focus.

Daily practices reinforce our mindset for success. Over time, these habits become second nature. There’s always more to know and ways to improve. Seeking knowledge continuously fuels our growth.

We keep our why clear and close. Knowing why we pursue our goals provides clarity and enduring motivation.

Celebrate every victory, no matter the size. I started my email list with 0 people. I currently have 17 people on my list. But here’s what’s crazy. It’s all my closest friends and family. So I have a ton of fun pushing out emails to them.

My first goal was to get 1 person. My second goal was to get 10 people.

My next goal is to hit 100, then 1,000, then 10,000, then 100,000, then 1,000,000. Acknowledging progress reinforces our efforts and mindset. It reminds us that we are capable and on the right path.

Everything that we just talked about builds a strong foundation for success. With the right mindset, anything is possible. Let's keep pushing, learning, and growing.
