The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber is an incredible business book. The ideas in it are very useful for everyday life too. If we learn and use these ideas well, they can improve our lives a lot.
A business is made up of three types of people: visionaries, managers, and technicians.
Visionaries are the dreamers of the world. They think up new ideas and see big possibilities for the future.
Managers are the organizers who make plans to turn those big ideas into reality, keeping things running smoothly day by day.
Technicians are the doers; they get hands-on and make things happen, focusing on the tasks that need to be done right now.
You need to be a little bit of all three. You need to envision where you're going, keep yourself accountable, and do the work.
This is the only illustration in the book. It's on page 175. Let’s set the titles aside for a minute and see how this applies to life. If you know how to apply it to your personal life, then you’ll be able to apply it to your business.
You are the shareholder. This is your life and you get to decide where you want to take it. Your vision is what drives the ship. This is where it all begins.

There are three sub-departments: finance, operations, and marketing.
If you want control over your life, control your finances. This does not mean that you need to get out of debt, make more money, or be some financial wizard.

Operations is how you do you on a day-to-day basis. It has to do with your diet, fitness, learning, and the "doing" of whatever it is that you do.
Marketing is bringing in deals and getting new clients. If you work at a company, then it's making new connections and building relationships. You never know who might lead you to your next promotion or job offer.
Marketing can also be the quality of your work. Do such a great job with what you do and become known for it.
