What’s Your One Thing?

In order to get more done, we must do less. This is the core principle that The One Thing by Gary Keller teaches us. To focus more energy on less tasks. It seems counter intuitive. It’s human nature to think “the more I do, the more I’ll get.” Gary smashes that myth in this book.

The human brain is similar to a computer chip. A computer chip can only handle so many ongoing tasks. The more it tries to do at one time, the less efficient it becomes. If it tries to do too many tasks at the same time, it works extra hard and outputs really slow. The computer would get more done if it did just one task at a time.

Keller advises us to do less (so we can do more).

Working Toward Your One Thing

Focusing on one thing might sound impossible. It probably is (right now). Directing our focus to one thing doesn’t typically happen overnight. It’s something to gradually work toward. As we start to learn more, earn more, and adapt more - I believe that we can discover and implement one thing that will make everything else irrelevant.

No one can do everything, so why try?
