  2. Imitate Successful People
  3. The Power of Clear Goal Setting

Looking for a book that will give you an instant ROI? Then look no further 🙂 Eat That Frog! by Brian Tracy is a book that delivers an instant reward. The advice is practical and actionable.

Tackle the Toughest Tasks First

The first rule of frog eating is this: If you have to eat two frogs, eat the ugliest one first.

The main premise of the book is that we tend to spend too much time on non-essential tasks. I’ve certainly been guilty of this.

Brian is urging us to write down everything that we do in a given day. He wants us to closely look at it and reduce, outsource, or remove it from our daily activities.

The other point he wants us to understand is that we often face hard tasks. The hardest tasks are usually the most important ones. He’s telling us to not delay and get to it.

Getting started is the hardest part. Once we’ve started, we’ll have the highest chance to finish. This is only possible if we do two things:

  1. Reduce, outsource, or remove unnecessary tasks
  2. Eat the ugliest frog first

Our willpower is strongest after a good night's sleep. So, that’s the perfect time to get hard things done.

Imitate Successful People

Just find out what other successful people do and do the same things until you get the same results.

This is great advice and it’s easy to overlook. What do you want to accomplish? What do you want to achieve?

Search for people that have already accomplished similar things and emulate what they did to get there. Times and tactics may change, but core principles never do.

The Power of Clear Goal Setting

Clarity is perhaps the most important concept in personal productivity.

And of course, how can we get somewhere if we don’t know where we’re going?

We can’t.

Having clear, written goals on what we want in life will help our mind autosuggest it. We’ll also need a plan with action items that we can complete in order to get there.

This is the secret to getting things done and accomplishing our goals. We may need to course correct along the way, but if we abandon the action items and goals all together, we may have to start from scratch.

So sticking to the same thing and not bouncing around too much can play a major role in accomplishing a lot.

Try implementing these 3 steps today!

  1. Tackle the Toughest Tasks First
  2. Imitate Successful People
